Stand up for the Colney’s is now in full swing following the publication of the proposal for a Hertsmere Garden Village on the boundaries of London Colney and Colney Heath.
A London Colney Leaflet opposing the scheme has been distributed to every house this weekend and a public meeting will be held: Wednesday 21 November at 6.30pm in the Community Centre, Caledon Road, London Colney*
From a list of 18 serious effects, residents are invited to select their most worrying such as, London Colney bypass gridlocked with traffic on the village High Street; large scale flooding of the River Colne if development near two flood plains goes ahead; coalescence between London Colney and Colney Heath which is contrary to planning policy.
Chairman of London Colney Parish Council Malcolm Mac Millan added:
“Such a massive proposal will mean 20 years of disruption with detriment to the quality of our lives; air quality will worsen, and noise levels will increase.
We are facing the biggest planning crisis in the history of London Colney with proposed developments also at Harperbury Hospital site; rail freight/garden village; Shenley Lane & Oaklands College”
