Community Links

Welcome to the web site of the London Colney Parish Council. You are entering the site of one of the biggest villages in Britain with a population of nearly 10,000 residents. London Colney has a lively and cosmopolitan community, with many groups and activities adding to the richness of village life.
At one time the High Street was one of the main routes to London and its abundance of Inns were a popular stopover with coach travellers to and from the Capital. It has an interesting history, especially as it was within the London Colney area that the Romans captured Alban, before taking him to Verulamium (St Albans) for execution. Some locals slightly stretch the truth when they say St Alban was a local chap!
We have designed this website so that local people can find out what is happening in their village and can have access to decisions being taken by their Parish Council. We want visitors and new residents to find key information about ‘who’s who’ and ‘what’s what’ with a certain amount of ease. And we are keen that visitors can find out about the many businesses based in the village, whether it be restaurants, retail, financial, or industry.
The site is still under development so some pages are not yet available but it is packed with useful information and signposting, providing a snapshot of an energetic population addressing the challenges of their changing environment.
