Local Community and charity groups Doodlebugs, Girl Guides, St Peter’s Church, London Colney Hedgehog Rescue, Scouts, De Havilland museum and Wildlife Trust kindly donated their time for their stalls. With activities ranging from decoration making, axe throwing, tombola, to items for sale such as homemade preserves and jams and cakes, they offered variety and a real sense of community spirit. ‘It truly was an amazing day — we’re so grateful to have been a part of it. Huge congratulations to the organisers for putting together such a well-run, engaging, and vibrant event. We felt incredibly welcomed and supported throughout the day, and it was a pleasure to be among such a warm and enthusiastic community’ said Lenya from Doodlebugs.
Food vendors; Dessert Guy, Candy Bear, Mama Cynths Jamaican Kitchen, Tiffinbox, Sunshine Tacos, Barking Barista and Patzeria were all present on the day, serving delicious food ranging from waffle wands, wood fire pizzas, Indian and Mexican street food, vegan Jamaican meals and ice cream. The Splash Shack continued to offer community prices as it has all Summer long, serving ice creams and ice pops as well as other refreshments. ‘Everyone was so friendly and nothing was too much trouble, so thanks to your staff and volunteers as well. I thought it was a lovely day, considering it was the first one, and hopefully next year will be bigger and better’ said Sonia from ‘Mama Cynth’s Jamaican Kitchen’

CMS kindly gifted our toilet facilities on the day. Â
Annie’s Princess Palace Parties provides character entertainers for children’s parties and events, and they were kind enough to donate their time to offer a meet and greet and Children’s entertainment segment.

Massive thanks to Veolia for supplying a full set of recycling bins – turning education into action and keeping heaps of waste (including food waste) out of landfill. We work hand-in-hand with them year-round, acting as the eyes and ears on the ground for fly-tips and litter pick collections. Shout-out to Mark Southgate, Babatunde Wilde, and the brilliant St Albans Veolia team for making it happen! Special thanks to Chris Low, Abbie Bude, Monica O’Carroll, Christine Cole, Richard Ewen, some of our amazing local residents, and our Litter Heroes for helping collect litter and further separate waste into efficient recycling streams.Â
Our local Fire Brigade and Police Officers were kind enough to come along and give our local children a close look at their Fire Engine and Police car, this was a real hit with the little ones. Â
Shirey’s Roadhouse and The White Horse pub ran mobile bars on the day.
Regular sponsor of Parish Council events, Anthony Oliver from Oliver and Akers Estate Agent, brought ‘Rita the taxi’ along for a selfie competition, and created some drone footage on the day which has been shared on the ‘London Colney Parish Council’ Facebook page for anyone who’d like to see it.
‘Thank you so much to everyone who supported our Village Day event, it was wonderful to see so many people come out and enjoy a day in the sunshine with their friends and families, the atmosphere was brilliant thanks to you! The purpose was to bring the local community together for a summer event after a few years without one, and with lots of different elements to the day we felt it would give us a good gauge for the direction our future summer events could go in. The London Colney Parish Council would like to thank everyone who played a part in making this event a success and we hope to see you come along and support the remaining events for 2025 and beyond’ said Hayley, Events Officer.  If you have any further feedback/ideas/ want to be involved in future events please email: events@londoncolney-pc.gov.uk
