Outside Spaces

The premier recreation ground in London Colney, this site is home to football pitches, tennis courts, a play area and The Watersplash splash park. 

There is also a sports pavilion, with changing facilities, showers, toilets, a small function room and adjoining kitchen.

The site has a car park, just off the entrance in White Horse Lane, with a small parking area near the pavilion.   

The site has its own management plan, which was implemented in March 2023 and is regularly reviewed.

The sports and recreation area in Napsury Park is maintained and operated by the Parish Council and provides an excellent venue for cricket, football, tennis, netball, and other activities.

In addition to the sports pitches and the Multi-Use Games Area, the park has a modern sports pavilion which provides changing rooms, a function room, with adjacent car parking.

When not in use for pre-booked sports activities the pavilion is available to hire for special events such as children’s parties.

Shenley Lane Recreation Ground, is located just off Shenley Lane, on the outskirts of the village.

It has two junior football pitches, a play area, trim trail, zip wire and changing rooms.

It is also adjacent to Shenley Lane allotments.  

Walsingham Way is tucked away behind St Anne’s Road, and accessed via a track from Chicken Lane.

The site is home to a small play area including a giant slide. 

1st London Colney Scouts have their Scout Hut adjoining the site. 

There is a footpath that runs from Chicken Lane to St Bernadette’s School.

The site is going to be managed as an open space with a habitat plan, to manage biodiversity. 

The Parish Council maintain a number of children’s play areas throughout the village. They are located at:

  • Halsey Park (Tots playground)
  • Walsingham Way
  • Morris Recreation Ground
  • Caledon Road
  • Shenley Lane

In addition to the usual playground equipment there are additional facilities at:

  • Walsingham Way – Giant slide
  • Morris Recreation Ground – splash park
  • Shenley Lane – Trim Trail & Zip line on field adjacent to playground
